I had a couple of more pictures that I thought would help. If anyone would like to post a comment please do so. These are graphs of intervals.

Thanks for a great forum tonight!

Okay, just when I think I really understand this it kind of flies out the window................does the above graph have anything to do with the 1 4 5 progression?

OK, so here's why the vii chord has the little 0 above and to the right:
The three notes in that "7th of C-Major" chord are: B-D-F. Now, those two intervals (B to D, and D to F) are both Minor Thirds. Therefore, these three notes form a Diminished Chord. (Maybe, in this case a B-Diminished?)

Jeff Hames wrote:what do the terms largo larghetto adagio lento moderato andante ect. mean/stand for?

I think these are Italian words for speed:
largo is slow
larghetto is "between largo and andante"
andante is "moderately slow"
presto is "fast"

see http://www.merriam-webster.com

I thought presto was a type of spaghetti sauce? :P

Ha Ha - Maybe, do I have to cook it quickly, or can I let it simmer "andante??"
